Cuddlekins Opossum Stuffed Animal – 12" | Wild Republic

A little quirky, wonderfully wild, and impossible not to love! Meet the Cuddlekins Opossum from Wild Republic, an adorable 12-inch plush inspired by one of North America's most fascinating and misunderstood mammals. With its distinctive pointed face, pink nose, rounded ears, and soft, cuddly body, this lovable opossum brings a little woodland personality to your collection of wildlife companions.

The Virginia opossum (Didelphis virginiana) is North America's only native marsupial found north of Mexico. Like kangaroos and koalas, female opossums carry their developing babies in a pouch. Once the youngsters grow too large for the pouch, they may hitch a ride on their mother's back!

Primarily nocturnal, opossums are resourceful omnivores that feed on insects, fruits, small animals, and carrion. As nature's little cleanup crew, they help recycle nutrients and contribute to healthy ecosystems.

And what about the famous expression "playing possum"? It's based on a real survival strategy! When threatened, an opossum may involuntarily enter a temporary, death-like state that can discourage predators. It's just one of the remarkable adaptations that make these animals so unique.

A Pacific Northwest Connection

Although Virginia opossums aren't originally native to Washington State, they've become established throughout parts of western Washington, including the greater Puget Sound region.

Today, these adaptable little mammals can be found in wooded neighborhoods, parks, and suburban habitats. They're often more active after dark, so you might not realize just how much wildlife is exploring your neighborhood while you're asleep!

Why We Love It at Millstream

At Millstream, we believe that every creature has a place in nature's story, even the ones that don't always get the spotlight. We selected this Cuddlekins Opossum because it celebrates an often-misunderstood animal with a surprisingly important ecological role.

We love introducing visitors to wildlife beyond the familiar bears, orcas, and eagles of the Pacific Northwest. Opossums remind us that some of nature's most remarkable animals are the quiet, quirky residents living right alongside us.

With its realistic features and irresistibly soft design, this plush makes a wonderful gift for curious young explorers, backyard naturalists, and anyone who appreciates the unusual characters of the animal kingdom.

Whether you're visiting Bainbridge Island, exploring Port Townsend, or searching for a gift for your favorite opossum enthusiast, this cuddly companion is ready to win hearts.
